Happy New Year! Vasilopita with pecans and orange to celelbrate the new year

To celebrate the start of another fabulous new year I have made a vasilopita cake. This can also be made as a brioche if you prefer. The flavours include orange, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and in this case, some lovely candied pecans from family in the USA. Cake or brioche, for a proper celebration there must be a coin, hidden inside, to bring good luck to whoever finds it, for the new year.

Traditionally the cake has the sign of the Cross marked on the surface 3 times by the elder or the father of the house, then divided into equal slices for the Saints, Santa Claus, the house, work, family or friends, it is your choice.

I will be posted the recipe for this gorgeous cake very shortly, so you can make it yourself.

Happy 2023!
