Maria’s Greek Easter Plaited Biscuits
Ingredients
750 gr. plain flour
400 gr. butter at room temperature
250 gr. icing sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg yolk & a dash of milk to glaze
Method
We mix by hand all the ingredients together until we form a uniformed dough. We need to make sure that we do not have any butter lumps.
If the dough is sticky and you cannot work it, then put it in the fridge for 30’ or until is firm again.
We take 20 gr. of the dough, open it and create a thick string, and then we create the plait.
We place on a tray, and when we finish with all the biscuits, we proceed with the egg wash thoroughly (we have to be thorough, so that the golden colour will cover the top after the biscuits are baked).
We bake until golden in 180 C.
